A foray into Framer: talking templates with one of the no-code web platform’s leading designers
Throughout 2023, we’ve taken a keen interest in Framer – a no-code web design platform with a Figma-like interface. Websites can take any shape or form, and be kitted out with your favourite fonts, scroll effects, animations and a custom domain. And it really is no-code. Not ‘no-code until you want to do something cool’ like many other sites. While Framer’s familiar look and feel makes it fairly easy to pick up and learn, it does also have a fantastic library of custom templates for those of us lacking the time and energy to re-design our portfolio from scratch for the forty-third time. These templates are put together by a host of fantastic designers from around the world, as Framer allows anyone to submit and sell their creations. One such designer is Paul Lapkin, who was one of the first Framer advocates we discovered while we were learning all about it. After a few conversations in conjunction with our expansion into e-commerce, we agreed to bring two of his templates to our store as part of our first foray into Framer. Following their launch, we fired over a few questions to Lapkin via email, keen to learn more about their design, as well as his background and future plans. Check it out below. EM: Hey Paul, how’s it going? PL: Hey Elliott, I’m doing great; thanks for asking! I’m excited to share my story and tell you more about my journey into web design and how I became a Framer Expert.
