CM.SUPPLY’s Mátyás Czél on building a global practice from Budapest
Three years into founding CM.SUPPLY, Mátyás Czél has built a Budapest-based practice working with international clients whilst co-founding POV Budapest, the design conference that’s welcomed speakers from OpenAI, Studio Dumbar, Revolut and more. What began as a solo practice has grown into a five-person studio, with young talents such as Design Lead Róza Velkei contributing to the studio’s design direction. The studio positions itself around a philosophy that treats branding and product as inseparable layers, with motion and interaction design informing every brand decision. Czél’s path through the industry shaped his conviction that stronger local studios beat globalised agencies – a belief manifest in both CM.SUPPLY’s client work and their own ventures. As Budapest’s creative scene navigates between DIY energy and market limitations, Czél discusses what it takes to establish international trust and why their studio mark deliberately stands still. TBI: Hey Mátyás, it’s great to catch up! How was 2025, looking back? MC: It turned out to be an unexpectedly good, but very intense year – both personally and professionally. We grew the studio further, worked on some great international projects, went on some good work trips across Europe and the Middle East, moved together with COMET, ran the second edition of POV Budapest, and laid the groundwork for some great new things to come in 2026. And in the middle of all that, I became a father, which put everything into a completely new perspective. It really taught me to prioritise better, delegate more, and actually make space to rest.
