Dipping into their graphic design and UX prowess, CM.SUPPLY delivers a zippy identity for trppn
CM.SUPPLY, a Budapest-based studio, used their expertise across brand and product design to create a vibrant identity and app for trppn, a decentralised music community platform. “We operate CM.SUPPLY as a design studio with a product design mindset and workflows,” Founder & Creative Director Mátyás Czél tells us. “Rather than limiting the design work to projects, we’re always on the lookout for fresh approaches to ongoing collaborations and partnerships.” With the objective of establishing a strong connection with Gen-Z while invoking a sense of nostalgia for older audiences, the design team drew inspiration from the vibrant and boundary-pushing aesthetics of ’90s rave scenes. “Our client had a thriving community that emerged from underground club culture and music movements with surprising and limitless creative expressions,” Czél explains. “When you examine footage from ’90s rave parties, you’ll notice a remarkable and boundless variety of expressions. It’s evident that these aesthetics are experiencing a resurgence, though they’re often co-opted by corporate entities, neglecting the grassroots movements that originally gave them life.” This nightlife-inspired theme is reinforced through the brand’s colour palette, evoking the atmosphere of a midnight open-air party, with deep blue skies and UV lights intensifying vibrant colours. Applied across digital and off-line outputs, the sunburst-like symbol – that serves as the centrepiece of the visual identity – represents the distilled essence of the entire trppn experience. “We wanted something that could work great as a sticker for a movement and look cool on the wall of a club’s smoking room,” Czél notes. “Also, it’s got this nice visual nod to the old trppn identity – we love to keep legacies alive!”
