Embracing sustainability: Human Resources’ precise packaging for EO reflects their innovative vision
Scottish agency Human Resources, led by designer Kurt Green, have collaborated with the UK’s leading electric vehicle charger manufacturer EO to craft its sustainable and adaptable packaging system, suited for its 2023 home-and fleet-ready range. Established with an international vision, EO launched in 2014 to become the world’s premiere brand within the electric charging scene, looking to set an environmental, sustainable standard for others to follow whilst offering energy autonomy to individuals and businesses alike. To help certify EO’s circular credentials, Human Resources turned to FSC-certified materials and sustainable inks for the design of its comprehensive modular packaging. Not only providing EO with the space to easily transform the packaging to accommodate brand collaborations or different languages, the system is optimised to reduce transportation emissions and costs – constructed of easily-assembled, custom-engineered platforms, inserts and reseal tabs. In conversation with Green, discussing the use of EO’s existing brand, he contextualises, “the EO identity was created in-house in collaboration with an external agency,” adding, “but the project was an exercise in adapting EO’s existing asset system to make it more suited to a cohesive packaging system.” As a result, Green pursued visual and typographic adjustments to the brand, notably the introduction of its pill-shaped product naming system alongside a concrete visual structure.
