Fabulous at 50: OKTO’s identity for real estate agency Mäklarhuset is ready for the future
Mäklarhuset is a well-established real estate agency in Sweden and Spain, boasting a presence of over 110 local offices. With a history spanning more than 50 years, they have built an unwavering reputation in the industry for honesty, transparency, and innovation. And while consistency can be a good thing – their brand image, for instance, had been unchanged for a decade – it was important for Mäklarhuset to keep pace with the fast-moving nature of the market. They worked with Stockholm-based brand agency OKTO to craft a future-proof new identity, one that champions the high standard of service that they’re known for. “Historically, Mäklarhuset has been at the forefront of the market, but has been outrun by the competition over the last decade,” says Creative Director Linus Östberg. “Through this substantial advancement of the brand’s position, they will become relevant and market-leading again. Mäklarhuset has been around for 50 years, and needed to make a clear statement and really show that they are taking the next step into the coming 50 years, by setting a new, higher standard.” Drawing from their expertise in strategy, communication, and digital experiences, OKTO achieves this with a “one-brand experience,” delivered via a new strategic platform, a new brand expression, a complete digital experience and communication concept. The visual language of the brand draws upon the sleek and contemporary aesthetics associated with Scandinavian design – connoting craftsmanship, refinement, and a communal spirit. Rather than focus on the name itself, a very straightforward name that literally translates as ‘The-real-estate-agent-house,’ the team found new ways to spark intrigue within the brand.
