Goods’ open-source resource Index provides everything you need to design sustainable packaging

Believing in the power of collaborative and collective effort, Oslo-based design studio Goods have long been collecting information concerning sustainable packaging, following years of site visits, talks, courses and whitepapers, which has culminated in their communicative venture Index. An open-source steward of environmentally friendly packaging information, Index is an online space to share Goods’ accumulated knowledge of the sustainable packaging industry in order to make the endeavour easier for others. Run-on green servers specifically designed to commit to a low CO2 footprint, the resource itself lives up to Goods’ name in more ways than one, fundamentally seeking to bridge the conversation of ethics and aesthetics between designers in the ultimate vision of a kinder and more sustainable consumer industry. With an identity and website as exhaustive as the resource is comprehensive, Goods makes the case that clean and legibility-focused design doesn’t need to be uninteresting and unengaging – in fact, in their identity and visual system for Index, they’ve proved themselves in showcasing the opposite.
