Heart uses academic referencing to position Sfermion as ‘super partners’
Sfermion operates in a sector that’s still finding its shape – the immersive internet, where physical and digital worlds converge. For an investment firm working in such an abstract, fast-moving space, the challenge wasn’t just about looking credible. It was about capturing something more fundamental: their role as true partners to entrepreneurs navigating uncharted territory. When Heart began working with Sfermion’s founder, the studio discovered something unexpected. The firm’s real strength wasn’t just capital or expertise – it was their capacity to engage as genuine collaborators who understand the entrepreneurial journey from the inside. This insight became the foundation for everything that followed. The name Sfermion itself offered an elegant starting point. In theoretical physics, sfermions are hypothetical ‘super partners’ of known fermions in supersymmetry theory. This scientific pairing became the conceptual anchor for the entire identity. “We realised Sfermion’s real power lies in their ability to connect with founders as true partners. They are, in essence, ‘super partners’ to their clients,” Co-founders Asher Pilbrow and Brya Taylor explain. “This insight became the core idea we built everything around. We designed a system where every element had its own partner.” Heart developed what they call “connective” icons – a referencing system that functions much like the citations and cross-references found in academic writing. Each connector carries specific meaning: one might indicate when Sfermion refers to its own purpose, while another points to an external partner or idea. Paired with scientific drawing-inspired illustrations that layer and interconnect, the system creates a visual language that amplifies the super partner concept without stating it explicitly.
