HEX builds Fuser’s identity from the messy middle of AI creativity
Fuser is a creative workspace built on a simple premise: the best work doesn’t happen in one click. In a landscape dominated by AI tools that treat creativity as a one-time event – type a prompt, get an image, move on – the platform keeps users inside the process. It’s modular, reconfigurable and designed to grow alongside creative practice. When the team approached experimental studio HEX for a rebrand, they brought an unusual request: make the work-in-progress the polish, make the thinking visible, and celebrate the parts most people try to hide. Co-founder Dalena Tran shares that when they came to HEX, they wanted a language that expressed this process. “We wanted something that felt like it could move in a lot of directions at once. Something that is different from chat. Something that felt alive, flexible and experimental, but still conveyed that Fuser is a space for real, professional work.” The brief carried a distinct philosophy: Fuser actively avoids what the team calls “one-shot processes that lead to slop.” This wasn’t marketing speak – it started as an inside joke during development before evolving into a guiding principle. HEX’s Creative Director & Founder, Ayush Soni, began explorations with two distinct systems: one spun out of grid lines and isometrics, the other more fluid and organic. The latter represented modularity in a more exciting expression, so they dove deeper. Their second round focused on organic expressions of modularity, playing with circular and fluid line language to emulate Fuser’s node-based product. While this concept felt differentiated, it couldn’t capture the idea of ‘the real world.’ Needing to convey physicality became clear at this stage.
