How Blueprint Studio reimagined Live Nation’s amphitheatre experience
When Blueprint Studio, Live Nation’s in-house venue design and development team, set out to create a shared identity for the company's amphitheatres, it found inspiration in an unlikely place: the great American road trip. Research with fans, artists and venue staff revealed that the amphitheatre experience begins well before the music. The drive, the tailgate and the wait for sunset are all moments that build anticipation and become part of the concert experience. That insight became All Roads Lead to Music, a branded experience platform created with design studio Blurr Bureau that unites Live Nation’s amphitheatres through a shared visual language while leaving room for each venue’s own architecture, landscape and local music story. “These shows often feel like a pilgrimage. People drive long distances, arrive early, tailgate, meet friends, move through big outdoor sites, watch the sun go down and stay long after the last note,” Vice President of Brand Strategy Molly Rowan-Hamilton tells us. “The journey matters as much as the destination.” "We approached the system as a shared language rather than a fixed template," explains Head of Brand & Experience Mietra Beyer. Across all venues, All Roads Lead to Music establishes a consistent design language through bold colour, confident typography and intuitive wayfinding. The system is recognisable from one amphitheatre to the next, but its expression changes with the place through its own architecture, landscape, sponsors and local music story. That shared language takes its cues from the road itself. “The visual system is inspired by vintage highway signage, roadside architecture and the great American road trip,” Beyer details.
