The Edit: five new projects including Hotel Arlberg Lech by Bureau Rabensteiner
Each and every day, we're lucky to discover dozens of interesting and inspiring projects from around the world. From global identities and campaigns to side projects and independently published books, The Edit is home to five of them; every two weeks. Hotel Arlberg is a luxurious hotel in Lech, an Austrian mountain village with over 305 kilometres of ski runs. The resort accommodates everyone from rally drivers and heads of state to locals and tourists, all there to enjoy the alpine cosiness. Bureau Rabensteiner, a design studio from Innsbruck 121 kilometres away, was asked to dust down the hotel’s vintage identity and give it a contemporary edge suitable for a new generation of customers. Their approach communicates the hotel’s premium quality through high-end materials and its legendary history with playful headlines and hand-drawn illustrations. Rothy’s is a shoe company from San Franciso that makes sustainable women’s footwear from 100% recycled plastic water bottles and post-consumer recycled materials. Rothy’s commissioned North American branding and design agency Character to create an identity for their brand that expresses their unique perspective. Character’s solution is anchored around today’s women and their power to choose a better alternative, full of style, comfort, sustainability and joy. The brand is centred around the workshop, speaking to the way today’s women drive Rothy’s creative process through a playful combination of colour and imperfect illustration. The result is a system that’s simple and human; perfectly representing Rothy’s cause.
