The Edit: five new projects including Nueva Italia Premium Tequila by Split Rock Creative
Each and every day, we're lucky to discover dozens of interesting and inspiring projects from around the world. From global identities and campaigns to side projects and independently published books, The Edit is home to five of them; every two weeks. Nueva Italia is a premium tequila from Nueva Italia de Ruiz, a small village in the Mexican state of Michoacán. It’s inspired by a group of Italian settlers who arrived in Mexico in the late 19th century and established themselves as the region’s finest farmers. For the brand’s visual identity and packaging, New-York based studio Split Rock Creative looked to combine Italian design heritage with the rich history and spirit of Mexico. The brutally simple yet expressive work of Italian design legends Massimo Vignelli and Angiolo Giuseppe Fronzoni played an inspirational role in the minimalistic, capsule-shaped bottle design. Open Ears Forum (OEF) is a worldwide community workshop led by Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus. In July 2019, they took the forum to Amsterdam and asked Manchester-based agency Alphabet to brand it with a system fit for future events. The resulting identity is built around the concept of community, with a dynamic, interconnected dot system at its core. The system adapts and changes to create logos, letterforms and icons that work flexibly across screens, print, campaigns and wayfinding.
