Nihilo’s intentional and layered identity for Ohmek captures the dynamic journey of personal growth
For Ohio-based branding agency Nihilo, led by Co-founders & Creative Directors Emunah Winer and Margaret Kerr-Jarrett, the intersection of branding and storytelling is where their craft truly shines. Their rebranding of Ohmek – a community and retreat centre located in Brooklyn and upstate New York – is a powerful testament to the force of deep collaboration, conceptual design and thoughtful execution. Founded by Yocheved and Yossi Sidof, Ohmek is a culmination of over 20 years of teaching, hosting and relentless growth. Ohmek, meaning ‘depth’ in Hebrew, invites individuals to explore the layers of their inner selves, offering transformative spiritual experiences that “open the doors inside us we haven’t opened yet, rooms we haven’t visited,” as Sidof puts it. This sense of inward discovery is central to Ohmek’s offerings, which combine traditional teachings with modern healing practices. Nihilo’s task was to craft a brand identity and digital presence that captured Ohmek’s mission and mirrored the complex, layered nature of personal transformation; a vessel for Ohmek’s ever-evolving and fluid offerings. “Ohmek is more than a retreat centre; it’s a place and a practice; a method and a mindset,” Winer tells us. “The common thread behind all of Ohmek’s initiatives is an invitation for guests to explore their inner selves, to go ‘underneath the underneath.’ The identity had to reflect the idea of constant exploration – there’s always more to discover beneath the surface.”
