Off the clock with Overtime: Company Policy’s creative playground embraces AI and experimentation
As a creative studio that “makes brands for humans,” Company Policy has always held a simple yet powerful principle – make great work for great people. It is this human-centric approach that has driven everything they do, from crafting thoughtful brand identities to delivering work that resonates deeply with their audience. The body of work they’ve built over the years thrives on their innate curiosity and spirit of experimentation. The latter pushed the team to launch Overtime, a platform rooted in a simple desire – to push creative boundaries by playing with new technologies and tools like AI, motion design and code, without the usual constraints of client work. Founder and Creative Director Adam Katz, and Director of Design Ops Nicole Banda envision Overtime as a space dedicated to exploration, experimentation and innovation. “It’s not about working long hours,” Katz explains. “It’s about going beyond the ordinary, stretching one’s imagination and making time for creative experimentation. It’s the late nights or extra space and time we give ourselves to experiment and play.” Inspired by historic experimental collectives and other studios experimentation spaces, Company Policy sought to expand the idea further by adding structure and categories to deepen their exploration and evolution as designers. To build this framework, Overtime explores 12 evocative themes – broad concepts like Connection, Evolution, Distortion, Energy, Love, and Turmoil – and uses them to dig into creative possibilities through image-making and motion design.
