Order’s typographic identity for Elkin Editions is a bold statement of confidence and quality

Elkin Editions is a New York-based independent video production studio working at the intersection of arts and entertainment. Since their founding in 2017 by filmmaker Jeremy Elkin, they have grown to a fully-fledged team offering commercial, editorial, production, photography and post-production services; and worked with an impressive list of clients including clothing giants Helmut Lang, Zara and 7 For All Mankind and tech establishments Snapchat and YouTube. Looking to cement their place in the competitive and often aesthetically-similar production studio environment, Elkin Editions commissioned Brooklyn-based design office Order to redesign their visual identity and website. Beginning with the name, Order decided to lead with just ‘Elkin’ in visual contexts; creating a punchier and ultimately more memorable alternative to the full name. Elkin’s five letters delightfully slot together in lowercase, no doubt due to Order’s sound choice of Monument Grotesk from Swiss type design agency Dinamo. In tandem with an uncompromising black and white colour palette, Monument Grotesk’s beautifully bold simplicity supports Elkin’s films and imagery without distraction. Filling the space it’s applied to, be it a letterhead, label or lorry, the Elkin wordmark and accompanying visual language is an unwavering statement of confidence, quality and timelessness.
