Oro is a water brand redefining hydration, engineered inside and out
Oro is a mineral water bottled in Jordan by Oro Labs®, drawn from a desert aquifer around 400 metres down. It runs through a 17-stage filtration process that rebuilds it to a fixed specification so that every bottle is exactly the same. Paris and Ljubljana-based creative collective .raw took on the social, imagery and film, building on the strategy, naming, identity, packaging and digital that was created by London-based studio Two Times Elliott. “Extreme industrial complexity on the inside; complete minimalism on the outside. Four words: design, brutalism, minimalism, industrialism,” Oro’s Founder & CEO Omar Alsadi tells us. “Oro was born out of necessity. Because a source cannot promise the same water twice,” he explains. “Water directly from a source will change depending on seasonality. Our goal was to create the most consistent water. And only engineering can achieve that.” The process uses double-stage reverse osmosis, mineral redosing and UV sterilisation. “A substance that fundamental deserves to be authored rather than accepted,” Alsadi details. “Nature provides. Precision perfects.” “The same necessity that built the process built the identity. What defines Oro is what happens to the water afterwards. The design is minimal. The work is scientific. The origin is brutal. The restraint on the outside is what those conditions produced,” notes .raw’s Founder & CEO Tamir Morris Grays. “Design follows the same logic as the water. Both are authored to a specification rather than inherited from a source,” he continues. “A fixed composition demands a fixed visual language. The identity holds the same discipline. One system, applied without variation.”
