Rankin’s former art director launches a modular template system
From working as an in-house art director for acclaimed fashion photographer Rankin to creating artist books and developing campaigns for clients like Uber and Adobe, Ricci Williams has built a multidisciplinary practice that spans fashion, film and editorial design. Now based between Los Angeles and London, the Central Saint Martins graduate has channelled his editorial background and deep understanding of structure into Studio Noteform – a growing collection of presentation templates designed as modular systems rather than rigid themes. As Williams launches his three core templates on our platform, he reflects on the lessons learned from working across diverse creative industries, the importance of invisible structure in design, and how becoming a father has shifted his perspective on what truly matters in both work and life. TBI: Hey Ricci, how’s 2025 been for you so far? RW: It’s been a reset, structurally and creatively. I’ve been based in LA, with ongoing ties to London, balancing client work while making space for a few longer-term personal projects. Studio Noteform is evolving from a design toolkit into something more foundational. I’ve also been learning how to navigate being a dad, which has shifted my sense of time and attention in ways I didn’t anticipate, but it’s helped clarify what actually matters and what doesn’t.
