Serene skies and abstracted Florentine architecture define Algo’s identity for Techtalia 2024
Techtalia, an annual conference held in different Italian cities, serves as a platform for ideas at the intersection of culture, business, and technology. It features insightful talks and panels on topics ranging from AI’s impact on the coffee industry to creating immersive experiences in fashion and retail. The 2024 event, set against Florence’s stunning cultural backdrop, offered abundant iconic visual and cultural inspiration for the conference’s design, created by Turin-based leading data-visualisation studio (and guest speakers) Algo. The location was particularly inspiring, being just 50 steps from the ‘Duomo’ – Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore – renowned for its octagonal dome by Filippo Brunelleschi (Cupola del Brunelleschi). Nearby stands the Baptistery of Saint John, which became the main source of inspiration. As Algo’s CEO & Creative Director Luca Gonnelli reveals, taking notes from the Florentine Romanesque style was perhaps an “uncomfortable reference” for an identity that goes far in the other direction – minimalist and modern. “After a bit of trial and error,” he says, “we started playing with the typical arches that build the marble façades and we found it an interesting element to play with, by stretching and deforming it in animation.”
