Soo Yeah Studio’s refresh for Out/Standard champions creative freedom, with typographic flexibility
Out/Standard isn’t just another stock music provider. As they put it, “Music isn’t just our business, it’s a passion for everyone who works here.” Their unique approach involves collaborating with “real and significant artists to create original, credible, high-quality tracks – music with a spark and identity beyond its commercial purpose.” This ethos sets them apart in an industry often criticised for its generic offerings. Their brand refresh, designed by London-based agency Soo Yeah Studio, deftly expresses this vision with a dynamic typographic system that allows for both fluidity and creativity. Following a renewed strategy and approach by Frank Broughton, the updated look – complete with a new website and merchandise – is tailored to fit the styling of their extensive media library and social media presence. In the world of production music libraries, it aims to stand out with a more captivating character. As Owen MacCoughlan, Director at Soo Yeah Studio, reveals, “We wanted it to feel in line with more exciting brands such as Apple Music but with a slightly more bespoke, less template feel.” The logo, while retaining elements from the previous design, was refined to better align with the new identity. “It needed to be bolder and slightly more condensed to feel appropriate with the rest of the look and feel,” MacCoughlan concludes.
