The Edit: five projects including Antonio Golia’s rebellious identity for Monda’s Fast Pizza in NYC
Each and every day, we're lucky to discover dozens of interesting and inspiring projects from around the world. From global identities and campaigns to side projects and independently published books, The Edit is home to five of them; every two weeks. For Monda’s Fast Pizza, Italian designer Antonio Golia presents a rebellious and rule-free identity, channelling the carefree attitude of eating a piece of pizza on the way home. The core of the New York-based concept store’s strategy is creating an inclusive and comfortable space; designed to bridge the gap between purists and the laid-back and curious. With this in mind, Golia’s elements – pop-art-inspired illustrations and flexible typography – are playfully imperfect. Drawings on the pizza packaging are smudged while the type rejects canonical rules; this is what makes it so wonderfully down-to-earth and endearing. With clients spanning Madrid, Malaga, Galicia and the Balearic Islands, Town is one of the leading 3D architecture studios in Spain. Their identity, created by Madrid-based studio fagerström, reflects their expertise in high-quality renderings with a confident and minimal look. This is most evident in the logo, a wordmark whose strokes seem to be formed by folds. Creating an effect that plays with perspective and spatial projection, the result is structural and has a three-dimensional feel, highlighting the studio’s ability to develop new worlds from scratch.
