The Edit: five projects including Gandhar Vamburkar’s benched but effective look for Musichead
Each and every day, we’re lucky to discover dozens of interesting and inspiring projects from around the world. From global identities and campaigns to side projects and independently published books, The Edit is home to five of them; every two weeks. The days of witnessing icons such as David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and B.B. King are over, but their legacy will forever be immortalised in Musichead – Los Angeles’ leading photography gallery dedicated to the art of music photography. LA-based graphic and web designer Gandhar Vamburkar collaborated with the gallery, offering his UX expertise to create a more cohesive look for the brand as well as a user-friendly website and e-commerce experience. While this is not the final direction the client picked, it warrants its own shout-out. The suggested look is unified by a striking typographic system featuring a custom logotype inspired by vintage Rock n’ Roll posters, and a cassette-tape-inspired modular grid system, framing shots of the iconic and unseen. The Thanksgiving leftovers are long gone, and the football games – a revered American tradition – are over until next year. But worry not, NFL fans, this throwback’s for you. Forth+Back’s NFL 23-24 campaign for Nike was a highlight in the designer-sports-fan calendar, pushing the ‘sports graphics’ a step beyond the established and typical.
