The Edit: five projects including Rethink’s gourmet mushrooms-meet-motorsports brand for Full Pin

Each and every day, we’re lucky to discover dozens of interesting and inspiring projects from around the world. From global identities and campaigns to side projects and independently published books, The Edit is home to five of them; every two weeks. What defines Full Pin – started by former engineers Vathana Len and Daniel Vogt – is not only their selection of world-class gourmet mushrooms but the speed and precision with which they cultivate them. Their state-of-the-art facility, run with engineering excellence, allows them to deliver consistently perfect mushrooms to their demanding clientele with racing-grade efficiency. Inspired by their name, a Québécois expression that means ‘full speed,’ RETHINK devised a look inspired by the high-octane world of motorsports. Custom icons depicting different mushroom varieties are rendered like automotive badges, while the typography and colour palette echo the bold aesthetics of professional racing teams. It’s lights out and away we grow! HAL Typefaces – the type foundry headed by Elias Hanzer and Lucas Liccini’s Studio HanLi – is entering 2025 with a touch of sparkle with their sans serif release of HAL Magic. A low-contrast sans serif, the variable font draws visual cues from Joseph Churchward’s ‘Tranquility,’ sharing its friendly personality and distinctive geometric construction. The typeface offers three subfamilies with varying x-heights (High, Mid and Low), six weights and corresponding obliques. HAL Magic presents itself as a “true performer, an athlete and a keen entertainer, ready to run the show on the big stage.” Keep your eyes peeled for its release in early February 2025.
