The Freelancers: Sasyk Mihal on his high-speed career and why freelancing is “like a cheat code”
In our interview series, The Freelancers, we dive into the challenging world of self-employment; discussing the highs, lows, and day-to-day requirements of freelancing at different design studios and brands as a career choice. For our 15th entry, we spoke with Europe-based freelancer Sasyk Mihal, who in our opinion, captures the modern freelance spirit. From his commendable work ethic and relentless drive that have defined his journey from a young age, to the fun, flexibility, and freedom that comes with a freelance lifestyle, Mihal unpacks both sides of his practice. Additionally, he walks us through the highlights of his portfolio, the essence of his creative flair, and the impactful experiences at Sagmeister & Walsh that have sculpted his career thus far. PT: Hey Sasyk, how’s your summer going so far? SM: Hii! Summer has been bliss so far! I just came from a perfect week on a boat with my friends in Croatia, and now going on a solo trip to Ibiza to see Charli XCX’s Boiler Room. Overall I have a lot of fun plans for summer, but don’t have much time left for work, haha.
