TM transforms Found’s digital-only work into an experimental print book
Found creates striking visual content through 3D design, motion and technology, crafting experiences for brands that live primarily in digital spaces. Their work carries deep human emotion despite existing exclusively on screen, presenting a unique challenge when translating their practice into physical form. London-based studio TM approached this challenge by creating Intelligent Beauty, a portfolio book that serves as both documentation and exploration of Found’s research-driven creative process. “This book isn’t a portfolio in the traditional sense,” explains Danny McNeil, Co-founder & Creative Director at TM. “Instead, it’s an exploration of Found’s approach – encompassing research, conceptual thinking and compelling visual content – offering a deeper insight into the studio’s ethos and creative process.” The collaboration emerged naturally from previous work between the studios, where conversations about using digital print technology to present work beyond its original commission evolved into this more ambitious undertaking. The book’s structure reflects the duality central to Found’s proposition through two distinct chapters. The first section, Intelligence, examines how curiosity fuels concept development across three themes: Research, Depth and Exploration. The second section, Beauty, features interviews with creatives including photographer Marius W. Hansen, case studies from brand collaborations, and insights from pioneers in neuroscience and visual communication. “We agreed the book should be more than a typical portfolio – it needed to present the practice in a more thoughtful and reflective way,” McNeil notes, highlighting how the editorial narrative includes contributions from experts across neuroscience, branding and product design.
