Xiyu Deng: “There isn’t a single ‘right’ solution to any problem”
Xiyu Deng has built her practice on a simple belief: design becomes meaningful when it bridges personal expression and shared understanding. Currently art directing at Media Arts Lab, Deng approaches each project by finding the story that makes technology feel human. Her Cantopop album cover series documented Hong Kong’s transitional period through visual form derived from song atmospheres. Her work on the Sixteen Labs rebrand translated AI complexity into clarity. DXY®, her evolving creative hub, reflects both industry work and personal projects as she gradually builds toward establishing her own studio. For Deng, staying open, learning through making and allowing form to inform concept has allowed her to create work that resonates with both clients and the design community. TBI: Hi Xiyu, how are you? XD: I’m doing well, but busy.
