Alice Daisy Pomfret on editorial design, running her own businesses, and living the Norwich life
From layouts and typesetting to proofs and printing, editorial design is a meticulous craft – one that demands a lot of perfectionism and patience from designers. Luckily for Norwich-based designer Alice Daisy Pomfret, it was a match made in heaven, who has not only worked on an abundance of publications, but has promoted and sold them in her own magazine shop as well. With the launch of her independent practice adp (a design practice), Pomfret consolidates all her projects under one roof, now serving as both a studio and store dedicated to crafting publications with cultural institutions, publishing houses and makers. Looking back at her career, she shares some key achievements, including collaborations with magCulture, and the vibrant world of independent publications. Furthermore, Pomfret takes us through some of her most impactful projects, her valuable experience working in universities as both a student and a lecturer, and what makes her hometown and creative hub Norwich (affectionately known as Nozza) the ideal city for independent designers and creators. PT: Hi Alice, how are you?
