Breaking beauty codes: Multiverse Studio channels pigment energy in Ecolor’s precise identity
When Salerno-based Multiverse Studio received Ecolor’s prototype hair colouring machine, they faced a unique challenge. The client wanted an identity that could “blend aesthetic elegance with engineering precision” while distancing itself from traditional hairstyling aesthetics. The goal was ambitious: elevate hairdressers to the status of technicians and researchers whilst making a sizeable machine feel desirable enough for salon display. Multiverse Studio’s solution centres on ‘Vibrant Soul,’ a concept rooted in Ecolor’s precisely calibrated colour formulas. “Through the creation of the ideal colour, the user’s soul is awakened and expands in a vibration that reveals their truest identity,” Creative Director Eugenio Petrosino explains. This philosophy translates into fluid graphic elements that echo pigment movement – trails, waves and particles blending in harmony to suggest living colour in constant transformation. The logotype exemplifies this approach through its sophisticated typographic approach. Multiverse Studio selected ABC Camera by Dinamo for its circular counterforms, which “evoke the suspended nature” of pigments blending in Ecolor’s formulas. Senior Designer Luca Longobardi reveals they modified the original font by rounding the letter terminals, creating a softer, more human quality that aligns with the circular motifs throughout the identity. “The result is a logotype that feels both technical and sensitive, able to communicate precision and vitality in equal measure,” he adds.
