G . F Smith’s The Possibilities of Paper captures the chromatic beauty and versatility of Colorplan
From the creative minds at powerhouse paper merchant G . F Smith, The Possibilities of Paper showcases the beauty and capability of the renowned Colorplan paper range, pushing it to vibrant, tactile places rarely explored before. Working with the best printers, materials and finishes, the three-part printed series illustrates not only what’s possible with the British-made collection, but accentuates the beauty of nature too. Designed by London-based creative agency Made Thought, The Possibilities of Paper pushes the Colorplan range to its limits, utilising its 55-colour, 10-weight, 25-embossings selection. “We want to demonstrate and showcase how paper can be used in ways that creatives might not have considered before,” G . F Smith’s Global Brand Director Benjamin Watkinson tells us, be that through contemporary production methods or advanced, complex printing processes. “We want to inspire people so that they look at and consider paper differently – as a fundamental part of the design process,” Watkinson adds. The trio of editions explores the life cycles of butterflies, intensifying both the magnificence of Colorplan and nature through tactile storytelling and an abundance of colour, form and splendour. “It was a continuation of a theme we looked at during lockdown,” Watkinson recalls, discussing the theme’s relevance during COVID-19’s peak. “We’d all started to recognise the importance of the world we live in, the scale of our impact,” he adds, “and how our connection to nature is so connected to our physical and mental wellbeing,” leading to G . F Smith’s focus on wildlife.
