Heydays and Goods partner to environmentally engineer Huddly’s systematic modular packaging

Oslo-based sister studios Heydays and Goods have brought together their unique combination of sustainable credentials, environmentally-friendly-focus and graphic expertise for their collaboration with technology company Huddly, and the bespoke packaging system for their L1 – AI operated – meeting room camera. “Heydays have been Huddly's brand and design partner for five years,” Goods’ Creative Director and Founder Sandro Kvernmo tells us. “Since the inception of Goods, it just makes sense to collaborate on packaging for Huddly as we share the same offices,” he remarks, “and have a great process for working together on clients;” continuing their ongoing partnership for Huddly’s pragmatic packaging solutions. Designing and engineering a flatpack modular system that allows for each of the products – and their combined components – to comfortably and efficiently sit on a standard pallet. In doing so, ensuring that the end result is not only environmentally friendly to ship, but also easily recyclable worldwide. Beyond the physical practicalities of the packaging, the design duo developed a dynamic, systematic visual identity for the boxes, creating a striking, stark and serene experience for the customer that utilises both Heydays’ original branding, as well as an original twist to its aesthetic. “The identity was designed in 2019, using Messina Sans as the typeface,” Kvernmo explains, chosen for its slick construction and refined details. “It’s not overly bold or flashy, but does the trick,” he adds, “and felt like something we could use for years and years on,” a testament to which they have since proven themselves correct. This composed typographic treatment is partnered with simple, Swiss-like, abstract geometric graphics, inspired by Huddly’s camera design – in a way translating both the actual appearance of the L1, as well as conceptually conveying the AI technology and software it houses.
