Sasyk Mihal creates a multi-faceted, nature-inspired identity and website for Mythical State Of

Mythical State Of is an online store and journal that collates and curates sports and transcendent experiences for a like-minded community of outdoor connoisseurs. Taking aesthetic inspiration from supernatural material and nature-based cults, the identity and website design for Mythical State Of comes from the mind of Prague-based designer and art director Sasyk Mihal. “They believe that experiences, especially difficult experiences, can and do serve as a portal or ‘transformation’ device,” Mihal tells us. “Outdoor experiences transform your geographic, mental, spiritual and physical ‘particulars,’” he adds, noting that the gateway to change comes from “pain and suffering, exposure to the elements, hunger, lack of sleep, and shared experiences.” Leading the other-worldly identity is a wildly flexible and adaptable use of shapes, which appear across the identity as small interactive moments referential to the notion of transformation. “We created over 100 icons and glyphs which are used in many ways,” Mihal explains, finding the inspiration for their individual designs from the forms found in nature, and the discussion and predictions for the future.
