The Edit: five projects including Times Two’s confident brand for borderless payments platform Due
Each and every day, we’re lucky to discover dozens of interesting and inspiring projects from around the world. From global identities and campaigns to side projects and independently published books, The Edit is home to five of them; every two weeks. US-based collaborative design practice Times Two has joined forces with London-based startup, Due, to revolutionise the visual identity of their international payments platform. The design stems from the company’s decentralised, blockchain-focused nature and the concept of ‘money beyond borders,’ which boldly challenges conventional financial norms. At the heart of the design is an all-lowercase wordmark, specially crafted to embody global inclusivity and scalability. The brand’s visual language manifests as dynamic patterns of monetary symbols and ‘coins,’ representing the movement of money across Due’s network. The colour palette, while staying true to Due’s original blue, introduces a burst of vibrant hues that respect and celebrate cultural diversity across markets, striking a perfect balance between flexibility and uniqueness. The design system culminates in the use of graphic cards as content vehicles, creating a seamless bond between the brand and product experience. Nolah, an organic wine brand set up in a quaint village in southern Spain, prides itself on its handcrafted wines that are as delectable as they are eco-friendly. The wines, born from organically nurtured grapes, embody a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. Each grape is hand-selected, and the wine undergoes fermentation in small batches, resulting in wines brimming with individuality and flavour. The project scope for Netherlands-based designer José de Wal was to create a minimalist brand that reflects the ‘back to basics’ vibe, delivered with authenticity and a modern twist. In response, she designed a striking logo – one that almost resembles a lightning bolt – composed of two simple shapes forming an ‘N.’ The use of a pale pink colour scheme and a monospaced font underscores the brand’s character and its traditional winemaking roots.
