Mon Kooloor Café Branding: Tradition Meets Innovation in Greek Pastry Design

Mon Kooloor is a youthful, urban pastry and café that specialises in baking different versions of a beloved, traditional Greek product: the koulouri. With its deep roots in Thessaloniki and its association with childhood memories and street vendors, the koulouri holds a special place, mainly as breakfast, in Greek hearts. Our challenge was to take this tradition and infuse it with modern, youthful energy, giving this iconic product a new voice that resonates with today’s urban lifestyle. We began by embracing the product’s round, sesame-coated form and transforming it into a symbol. The circular shape of the koulouri naturally lent itself to becoming a canvas for our design.
