Singani, as we have said, is a grape distillate originally from Bolivia. It is produced from Moscatel de Alejandría grapes and has a Denomination of Origin that limits the areas where it can be produced. The main area is the department of Tarija, whose vineyards are at high altitude, between 1800 and 2200 meters above sea level. This is one of the main features of singani, the altitude at which the grapes are grown gives it its organoleptic characteristics and makes it better preserve the aromas. This spirit was declared Bolivia’s national heritage. Due to the strong roots of the Bolivian civilization with the original, its national drink could not have other lands as origin.
